Nintendo announced that they have claimed the spot for best selling console of November 2020 with the combined sales of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite. According to the NPD Group, the consoles sold over 1.35 million units in the U.S. in November, making the console the best selling for 24 consecutive months.
These results come even after Microsoft and Sony launched new hardware with the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Furthermore, the company states that the numbers are fueled by their Black Friday bundles, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a three-month subscription to their online service.
“Nintendo Switch offers a unique proposition for shoppers this holiday season with the ability to play on the TV or portably in handheld mode,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We continue to see unprecedented demand for Nintendo Switch, and we are pleased that people of all ages and gaming skill levels will be experiencing Nintendo Switch this holiday and beyond.”
In 2020, the Nintendo Switch has sold 6.92 million units. It’s going to be interesting to see how things shape up with the new generation of consoles catch up to the hardware’s demand. We’ll definitely keep you updated on the changes.
