NieR Re[in]carnation Director Updates Western fans on English Release

NieR Re[in]carnation director Daichi Matsukawa went to Twitter today to inform western fans that an English launch was on the way.

In a statement, the developer apologized for the lack of updates for the English version but assured players that it is still in development. The Matsukawa-san also mentioned that they are currently recording English audio for the characters and plan to implement any bug fixes following the game’s Japanese launch. When dates can be confirmed they will launch a preregistration page for players to prepare.

NieR Re[in]carnation introduces a girl who wakes up in a mysterious place. Guided only by a creature known as “Mama,” the girl sets out to get back what was lost and atone for her sins. Inside what is known as the Cage, she will find her answers.

During gameplay, players will battle monsters using a command screen. There’s equipment that can be found and customized across your party with an auto-mode option that attacks enemies. The game is aimed to be easy to play, even for those who are not good at games.

There will be in-app purchases, but we aren’t sure if this will be tied to story progression, party members, or equipment. Players can explore different environments on a 2D screen as the party journeys across the lands throughout the narrative.

NieR Re[in]carnation is coming to iOS and Android devices on February 18 in Japan, with a western release scheduled for a later date.
