NieR:Automata Ver1.1a Anime Reveals January 2023 Broadcast Window; New Key Art, 8.5-Minute Info Video & Character File Trailers

A-1 Pictures has officially unveiled the first look at the highly anticipated anime adaptation for the critically acclaimed Square Enix action JRPG, NieR:Automata. The anime’s title will be NieR:Automata Ver1.1a, and its broadcasting is expected to begin in January 2023.

To shed further light on the project, Aniplex uploaded an 8.5-minute English subtitled video containing NieR creator Yoko Taro, anime director Ryoji Masuyama, and the Japanese voice actors for 2B and 9S. They discuss their passion for the NieR IP, with Taro providing expectedly intriguing insight.

He states that the “Ver1.1a” part of the title is that the anime won’t be a direct adaptation of the game, considering how the title’s gameplay integration is structured. Aniplex, on the other hand, desired a more faithful adaptation, so any discrepancies between this anime and the game are solely due to Taro’s decisions.

Two new key visuals were also shared for the anime’s revealed airing window and further information:
