New Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars Update Adds High Speed Gameplay Mode

Developer and publisher Square Enix has announced that their turn-based deck battling JRPG, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, has recently been updated to add High Speed mode. As its name implies, activating this option in the Settings menu significantly heightens the gameplay speed. Card animations and actions will be sped through considerably.

Still, it is mentioned that the Game Master’s voice has a chance of glitching out, so if that occurs, it is recommended for players to restore game speed to Normal, which also happens once the game is reset. Additionally, holding down the assigned button, dependent on platform, will also alter gameplay speed. Square Enix’s Twitter account has detailed all of these aforementioned quirks and benefits.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a new deck-building RPG where players will use cards in a way that unravels a narrative. The game is headed by creative director Yoko Taro, who fans will know from the Drakengard and NieR series.

Further, other creative minds from the NieR team joined development, including Yosuke Saito, Keiichi Okabe, and Kimihiko Fujisaka, making for a wild, eccentric group.

If you missed it, check out our review of the title’s PlayStation 4 release. I think this game is a much appreciated fresh step from Yoko Taro’s work with the expectedness of NieR and the like. Hopefully, it succeeds and leads to further creative avenues.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is now available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
