New Vampire the Masquerade Swansong Trailer Spotlights Elder Vampire, Galeb

The latest Vampire the Masquerade Swansong trailer puts a spotlight on the character Galeb, giving an in-depth look inside what inspired his character. Galeb, one of the oldest vampires in Boston, has seen it all at this point, from the fall of empires to the birth of the industrial revolution. Yet, he knows how to get the job done and isn’t afraid to dirty his hands. However, he is unsure whether he should join the current struggle for power or heed the call and follow in the footsteps of the other elders.

It’s no wonder that Devs, Big Bad Wolf Studio, put extra care into creating his character and fleshing it out. Galeb is a Ventrue, the proudest and oldest of the vampire clans and self-sworn leaders. Ventrue, in earlier years, were knights and noblemen keen to take over leadership when needed and adapting to modern society quite well. Taking over the rules of CEOs and politicians, Galeb garbs himself in a blue suit, the color of his clan, although it does far more than just that.

Galeb

Blue is worn extensively by politicians and is considered a power color that gives an air of authority. Even further, the meaning of this color is one of integrity, knowledge, loyalty, and seriousness. This simple choice gives Galeb an aura of power and dignity, the perfect characterization for an elder vampire. One of the more intriguing aspects is that he also has tattoos, particularly on his right hand of a compass. Again, a small detail, although one that helps support the idea that he has traveled the world and, interestingly enough, always knows which direction he is heading.

However, merely looking powerful isn’t enough. Galeb has to back up his powerful image with power itself. Therefore, Galeb has an extra discipline or skill tree to give a sense of his power entirely in gameplay. These additional abilities focus on strength and durability, making Galeb an easy choice to deal with more delicate missions and in line with traditional vampires from fiction. This trailer already has me wanting to play as Galeb and tackle missions that only he could handle.
