Touken Ranbu Warriors Shows Tsurumaru Kuninaga’s Team In New Trailer

Koei Tecmo has shared a new trailer for Touken Ranbu Warriors. The video shows us the fourth team in the game, which has Tsurumaru Kuninaga as its leader. The Musou action game developed in collaboration between the Koei Tecmo teams Omega Force and Ruby Party is already available in Japan, and is coming to the West on Nintendo Switch May 24, 2022.

The following swords compose the fourth team: Tsurumaru Kuninaga, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada and Okurikara.

Tsurumaru Kuninaga is a tachi remarkable for its white coat that resembles a crane, forged by Kuninaga Gojou during the Heian period. Despite his graceful appearance, his personality is witty and wild. Even within the unit, he is very experienced and refined.

Shokudaikiri Mitsutada is a tachi made by Mitsutada, who is said to be the true founder of the Bizen Osafune swordsmithing school. His name originates from when Date Masamune killed one of his retainers and also managed to cut down a candlestand at the same time. He’s a stylish person who fusses over his appearance.

Okurikara is an uchigatana said to be made by Hiromitsu of Aishuu. Because of his stay in Date household, he’s old friends with Shokudaikiri Mitsutada and Tsurumaru Kuninaga. However, he’s a solitary individual that dislikes mingling with others more than necessary. He has a carving of the Kurikara dragon king, which is the incarnation of Fudou Myouou.

Touken Ranbu is a multimedia franchise about beautiful blade boys based on historical blades. They have to fight against a group of history revisionists intent on changing the past. Protecting it is the Saniwa’s mission as they work for the Government of Time. In the original strategy game, players would summon those partners through a specific gacha system where they’d spend currencies such as metals to summon it.

Touken Ranbu Warriors covers an alternative story in which the Saniwa’s base, Honmaru, is attacked. In the midst of the confusion, this leader figure is gone and only a few blades perservere in continuing at that specific point of time waiting for the Saniwa’s return. Those characters are divided into five teams and a new, mysterious blade boy called Omokage is also introduced in the game.
