New Soul Hackers 2 Trailer Discusses Stacks, Sabbaths, COMPs, Mistiques & More

Atlus has shared a new trailer for their upcoming turn-based JRPG, Soul Hackers 2, briefly summating many gameplay systems correlating to combat and devil summoning.

Demons are obtained via reconnaissance and fusion and can be equipped onto a character, granting them their unique skillset while altering their elemental affinities. Then, when striking enemy weaknesses during battle, a counter at the screen’s top right will display Stacks, equating to how often those effective attacks have landed. At the end of the playable character’s turns, these Stacks coalesce to perform a Sabbath, a massively damaging array of strikes always worth pursuing.

Commander Skills are also touched upon, which are abilities unique to Ringo. They arrive in manual and passive varieties and are activated in the midst of battle while also having turn cool-downs. Their uses range from healing allies to making their buffs retain a turn longer.

One last element discussed is Mistiques, equippable valuables acquired from Demons when they learn all of their natural skills. These items are indescribably useful as they can heighten particular elemental damage, healing efficacy, and more.

For those unaware, Soul Hackers is a Shin Megami Tensei offshoot that last released for the 3DS, under Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. Initially, Soul Hackers was considered an entry in the Devil Summoner subseries of Shin Megami Tensei games. However, with Soul Hackers 2, it is now its own series while still retaining some ties to the subfranchise.

Atlus West has announced that the game will have the option to choose between English and Japanese audio, with English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish subtitle options also being selectable, providing greater audience accessibility.

Soul Hackers 2 will release on August 26, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
