New Soul Hackers 2 English Trailer Elucidates Affinity, Dialogue Choices, Soul Matrix & More

Atlus has shared a new English overview trailer for their upcoming turn-based JRPG, Soul Hackers 2. This video primarily highlights the playable cast, Ringo, Milady, Arrow, and Saizo.

Ringo and Figue are artificial creations of the information depository known as Aion and are tasked with averting the world’s destruction. On their quest to do so, Ringo revives Milady, Arrow, and Saizo from death, which also affects her internal connections with them.

In an area accessible via Aion’s base, the Axis, Ringo and her allies can enter the Soul Matrix, a series of mini-dungeons comprised of the other three party members’ memories. Ringo will learn more about her new friends’ pasts in these areas.

Further, Ringo can hang out with Saizo, Milady, and Arrow at a bar called Heidrun, located in Shinsando. These events are unlocked by progressing through the story, finding unique items in dungeons, and completing sidequests. Completing these events grants Ringo increased numerical affinity with the party members, called Soul Levels. These closer bonds gradually unlock gates within the Soul Matrixes. Several dialogue choices throughout the main story also affect Soul Levels.

For those unaware, Soul Hackers is a Shin Megami Tensei offshoot that last released for the 3DS, under Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. Initially, Soul Hackers was considered an entry in the Devil Summoner subseries of Shin Megami Tensei games. However, with Soul Hackers 2, it is now its own series while still retaining some ties to the subfranchise.

Atlus West has announced that the game will have the option to choose between English and Japanese audio, with English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish subtitle options also being selectable, providing greater audience accessibility.

Soul Hackers 2 will release on August 26, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
