New Silent Hill Title Rated in Korea
A new Silent Hill title has mysteriously appeared on The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, aptly titled Silent Hill: The Short Message. Fans of the Silent Hill franchise are no strangers to rumors about the legendary Konami IP, between speculation that Blue Box Studios was resurrecting the franchise to announcement rumors circulating, which all ended in disappointment, pachinko machines, and skateboards. However, we can now add another hope for the revival of the long-awaited next series installment.
The rating reveals little about the title besides the listed publisher, UNIANA, the dedicated publisher for Konami in Korea, including arcade cabinets. There are also no platforms listed for the title, though this is the same for the other forty-seven games that had been rated in this batch. The post’s brevity leads some fans on Twitter to not get their hopes up too soon before Konami reveals some official information about the title, as this rating could be another false hope.
However, with Konami slowly returning to console game development, some are still hopeful that this is part of a more significant initiative for the publisher to start reviving older titles. This revival would go alongside the recently announced Suikoden Remasters and the release of the Castlevania Advanced Collection last year. Going with this trend could be a collection of the older titles in the Silent Hill series rather than a brand new entry in the series, which the series hasn’t had a remaster since the poorly received HD Collection on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Finally, bringing these classic games into the modern era of gaming.
