Bandai Namco has shared a new trailer for the upcoming turn-based One Piece RPG, One Piece Odyssey. This new video shares more gameplay footage of the previously revealed Water Seven locale, highlighting several functionalities, such as touring the city on the Yagara.
Memory Link Quests are also introduced, side events requiring specific Straw Hat crew members to resolve the fractured world of “Hysteria’ which resides in the frayed edges of “Memoria.”
Speaking of the former, Hysteria features quests that should be nostalgic to fans of the series and completing them rewards players with team-based combat skills called Bond Arts. Moreover, each dungeon throughout the game is emphasized as unique to traverse, with distinct character-centric obstacles and challenges to overcome.
In Water Seven, players can look forward to multiple dungeons, including the iconic Enies Lobby. Lastly, the Straw Hat crew’s special moves are regained via story progress, and their efficacy can be upgraded using cube fragments found from gameplay exploration.

One Piece Odyssey is an adventure RPG where players will experience a new adventure with the Straw Hat Pirates. The game will feature new characters and monster designs by Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece. Further, music is being handled by Motoi Sakuraba, who is known for the Dark Souls and Tales series.
Oda, the creator of One Piece, designed two original characters for this game, Adio and Lim. Several new animals were also made by Oda, such as the Dry Penguin and Leviathan. Summatively, significant time was spent trying to make the title feel instilled with One Piece’s aesthetic identity.
One facet of the turn-based combat is Scramble Area Battles, comprising several areas where all combatants will be randomly assigned, requiring players to understand and experiment with the cast’s techniques. Another mechanic is Dramatic Scene, which contextually impacts party members, such as Sanji’s inability to attack if women surround him.
One Piece Odyssey is launching for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on January 13, 2023.
