New Melty Blood: Type Lumina Battle Trailer Showcases the Charming and Affectionate Maid Hisui

Type-Moon has uploaded a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming 2D fighter, Melty Blood: Type Lumina, showcasing the “quiet, yet deeply affectionate maid,” Hisui. This fighter is an expert at swift combative maneuvers with technical tools accompanying her skill set, such as cleaning and cooking tools utilized as traps and projectiles. While she’s not as adept as her sister, Kohaku, in the art of combat, Hisui is certainly no slouch and can easily hold her own in battle.

You can read more information on her, and the other fighters on the roster, on the game’s official website.

You can view the Battle Preview trailer for Hisui below:

Melty Blood is a fighting game series that started as a doujin game back in 2002. It is developed as a collaboration between Type-Moon (TsukihimeFate/Stay Night) and French-Bread. (Under Night In-BirthDengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax)

This is also the newest entry of the series, and it is based on the alternate retelling of Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon. As such, the game will also act as a reboot for the fighting series.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina will include HD environments, and its upgraded visuals will reflect the new version of the Tsukihime visual novel that will soon be available in Japan. French-Bread has also rebuilt the battle system to include multiple combos that can be pulled even by newcomers.

This game design philosophy is reinforced by Rapid Beats, which are moves that can be performed by repeatedly pressing the attack buttons. Their inclusion seems to imply that there will be room for some button mashing. However, the company promises that this will not impact the Melty Blood essence, allowing stylish, intense battles.

Following the series’ conventions, a story mode will be included, and each character will have their own narratives written by Kinoko Nasu. A Time Attack mode and a Survival mode will also be present. Additionally, it will be possible to play against other players online or locally. The game will have rollback netcode, but it is vital to mention that there will be no crossplay.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina will be released worldwide for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on September 30, 2021. Delightworks, the developer of Fate/Grand Order, is the game’s publisher.
