New Level-5 Job Listing Suggests Global Resurgence

After being away from the western market since 2020, it seems that Yo-kai Watch and Inazuma Eleven developer Level-5 is looking to make a comeback. In a recent job listing listed on their website that was spotted by My Nintendo News, an offer for a Rights Business Representative was posted this morning. While it may not seem much at first, the listing itself reveals some rather interesting details. I’ve translated them below:

Rights Business Representative
Tokyo Office – [Urgent]
Job Description: Propose game business to game developers in Japan and overseas using our IP. Specifically:

  • With the recent globalization of the game business, we are looking for a person who can maximize the business scale as a content holder and actively develop Level-5’s IP not only in Japan but also on a global scale.
  • Negotiation with both domestic and international game developers, contract negotiation/conclusion, supervision, promotion, etc.
  • Business plan and rights planning
  • Translation (Skill may be requested upon experience)

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the area.
  • Has the ability of managing copyrights and IP production.
  • If the applicant is not from Japan, you must be able to converse at a business level in Japanese and be willing to come personally to the Tokyo offices for an interview.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with licensing with business on foreign countries
  • Great understanding of Level-5’s IPs
  • Able to speak English on a business-level
  • Experience with dealing with overseas companies.

Specifically, the job requirements greatly involve the western market, which to me, sounds like we should be seeing some new developments and plans from the company in the future. Personally, I would love to see many of their IPs such as Yo-kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven, and maybe perhaps Professor Layton, but maybe that last one is a stretch. Still, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes out on further developments.
