New Devil May Cry Anime Details Revealed; Multi-Seasonal Story, Vergil and Lady Appearing, No Chris Pratt

As part of an interview with IGN Japan, Devil May Cry anime producer Adi Shankar revealed new details for the upcoming project. Firstly, the scripts for the Season 1 episodes have been written in collaboration with Alex Larsen, writer for the Netflix anime Yasuke. Further, even though Season 1 has a confirmed episode count of 8, a “multi-season arc” is planned. Vergil and Lady will also be appearing.

Shankar then stated that the team has worked directly with veteran Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who worked on the 2007 Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. The creative process has been said to be positive, with Shankar finding it to be “…a joy to work with Capcom.”

Lastly, Chris Pratt was confirmed not to be voicing any of the characters, just as a joke addressing the meme.

You can read the article from IGN covering these revelations in their entirety alongside discussion regarding Shankar’s prior work and more here.

Personally, even though Adi Shankar led the beloved Castlevania anime Netflix series, I’m not entirely sure what to expect from a Devil May Cry anime. While the cast is cool and faces their own share of conflict and growth, the narratives have never been an aspect I particularly cared about. Still, I thought the same about Castlevania, so I’m looking forward to hopefully being excitedly proven wrong again.
