NetherRealm Studios Moving on from Mortal Kombat 11 to Work on Next Project

The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account has announced that NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind Mortal Kombat 11, has concluded their time with the game and all of its content and has begun work on their next upcoming, unknown project. Nothing is known about this new project or what it will entail, but there has already been considerable fan speculation on whether it will be the highly desired Injustice 3. For now, we will just have to wait and see what this upcoming title will be.

The title’s story expansion, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, features new playable characters with the inclusion of Fujin, Sheeva, and the guest fighter, RoboCop. The story picks up with the new keeper of time and protector of Earthrealm, Fire God Liu Kang, as he enlists the help of allies and foes to change history. The expansion’s new characters each play a role in the narrative, including RoboCop, who is voiced by Peter Weller.

The original game received an updated iteration dubbed Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, which included the Aftermath story episode, as well as several graphical optimizations and a variety of DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One.
