Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars PC Preview – Smoother Buxom Babes
The Neptunia games making their way to PC is always an event for dedicated fans. The increased accessibility and customizability are tremendous benefits. Though perhaps equally as notable is the enhanced performance and graphical presentation. When Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars was initially released for the PlayStation 4 in the West last Fall, it was already a satisfactory experience. No dramatic additions or fixes were needed to better the gameplay experience. Still, the PC port provides new options to enjoy this cross-over ninja world.
Since we have reviewed this game beforehand, check that out for detailed assessments of the gameplay mechanics, storyline, progression, and more. For those unaware of this title’s premise, it is a cross-over of the Neptunia and Senran Kagura franchises. Though, despite the cross-over of two properties, prospective enjoyers don’t necessarily need to be knowledgeable of either series to have fun. Players can get a decent enough idea of each character’s general personality and the relationships through the story exchanges.
The gameplay is action-based and can be perceived as a light-musou due to the high frequency of enemies and tools for crowd control. Still, there are well-designed boss battles and several ways to customize characters with ranged weapons and a mechanic called the Spirit Board that alters stats. Further, some postgame and side content can keep players occupied for half a dozen or so more hours.
The primary set of collective enhancements comes from the Graphical menu, where players can adjust Screen Mode, Resolution, Framerate, V-Sync functionality, Anti-Aliasing, Background Quality, Shadow Quality, Depth of Field, and Bloom. These options are all standard of PC ports, but their inclusions are still noteworthy as they instill a smoother gameplay experience. The crisp art style is further amplified when on high settings, and it even helps clean up the appeal of some of the more bland environments. The Framerate option is particularly vital as an Unlimited option is toggleable, allowing for those with applicable setups to go ham. However, the game is not that demanding, so if you have a moderate setup like I do, you’ll likely be fine.
Regarding stability, I experienced no crashes or the like, making this easily the most qualitative iteration of the title. Granted, it’s not going to be a superbly drastic change in experience from PlayStation 4 unless you can benefit from the Unlimited Framerate option. Die-hard Neptunia and Senran Kagura fans will be glad to hear of this port’s quality though. Regardless, if you’ve been concerned about the port quality, you can let those fears go to rest. Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars on PC is seeming to be a fantastic port, and those yearning for it will not be disappointed with the full release.
Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is releasing for PC via Steam on May 11, 2022. It is also being released for Nintendo Switch on April 19, 2022. The game is now available on PlayStation 4. In case you missed it, check out our review of its initial launch.
