Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters Reveals New Character Renders + Profiles; Arena, Photo Mode & 100-Floor Dungeon

Publisher Idea Factory International has updated the official website for their upcoming action JRPG, Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters. Several new characters were revealed with profiles and renders, viewable via our gallery below:

maho normal — Maho – A cheerful, carefree child of the modern age, Maho is never seen without her smartphone in hand. Anri found her collapsed in an abandoned Planeptune suburb while fleeing the calamity on the PC continent. A skilled software developer, Maho has been working with Anri to create observation equipment to discover the source of the Trendi Outbreaks.

anri normal — Anri – A mathematically minded software engineer from the PC Continent, Anri is calm, collected, and always informed. After fleeing the calamity that took her home, she took refuge in Planeptune with the other survivors. Anri acts as friend and guardian to Maho, ever worrying over her carefree companion. Together they’re investigating the cause of the Trendi Outbreaks.

graysister normal — Grey Sister – A mysterious, unknown Goddess. She seals Nepgear and the other Candidates inside of a sleep chamber in a hidden research facility, from which they were not uncovered for several years.

higurashi normal — Higurashi – Playable Character. A warm and friendly girl from the PC Continent. Higurashi is on a mission to scour Planeptune for each and every bit of cute. Declaring “Oh, so cute!” she will try to claim them all for herself, be they plushie or person.

alice normal — Shanghai Alice – Playable Character. A refreshingly frank and down-to-earth girl from PC Continent. Shanghai Alice is kind to everyone, but never grants anyone special treatment. Her visit to Nepgear’s nation was ruined by the destruction of the PC Continent and the Trendi Outbreaks that followed. She lives frugally and earns her living day-to-day.

A few gameplay systems were also highlighted, such as the Photo Mode. Players can choose backgrounds, character poses, angles, and other factors to create thrilling images.

An arena is also implemented, allowing players to progress through consecutive 3-round battles across ranks ranging from F to S. Achieving higher ranks requires winning promotional battles at the top of one’s current rank. Various items and equipment are granted upon victory, with better items given in higher ranks.

Further, a training mode is playable from within the arena, allowing for practice against previously encountered foes.

After progressing through the story a bit, players will unlock the Neptral Tower, a dungeon comprising 100 floors. It is impossible to save progress or freely leave while in the tower, and safe areas are a rarity. Progression is dependent upon finding gates on each floor. Particularly powerful foes are fought every ten floors, with safe areas also located here for a breather. Moreover, rare equipment not found in any shops can be found here, so exploring it is worthwhile.

Lastly, physical edition pre-orders of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game are available via several retailers in North America and Canada, accessible from the title’s official website.

Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters stars the Goddess Candidates, who are sent out to investigate a laboratory. It was there that they found the “Ashen Goddess,” who trapped them in a deep sleep capsule. By the time they awoke, 2 years had already passed. Now, The latest smartphone, the “rPhone,” dominates the market, and Neptune has been missing since she left for the PC Continent, leaving Planeptune ravaged by a new phenomenon, the Trendi Outbreaks.

During gameplay, players can create combos, customize their characters with various accessories, explore a Chirper social network to accept side quests, and put together three-member teams to fight against enemies.

Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters is releasing in the West for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in early 2023. An English dub has been confirmed.
