The official website for Square Enix US has, most likely, prematurely announced that the sequel to The World Ends With You, NEO: The World Ends With You, will be releasing for PC via the Epic Games Store in September 28, 2021, a mere week from now. Mousing over an image of the game on the publisher’s home page will reveal the date, though the link leading to the pre-order page on the Epic Games Store is not currently working.
When NEO: The World Ends With You was initially revealed, its PC version was announced in tandem with the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions. However, the PC version’s release date was never solidified and instead vaguely stated to be releasing at the end of Summer. This confirmed date is technically after the end of Summer, but close enough, I suppose.
The story of NEO: The World Ends With You takes place in Shibuya. However, the main protagonist, Rindo, felt like something was off, which leads him to witness a psychic battle in the center of the Scramble Crossing. This is when he’s introduced to the “Reapers’ Game.” Sadly, this game comes with a few life-threatening rules: You cease to exist if you don’t win. So now, Rindo and his friend Fret fight against other players to find a way home.
NEO: The World Ends With You is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
UPDATE: The Epic Games Store page for NEO: The World Ends With You is now up and the title can be pre-ordered for $59.99. Those who pre-order the game will receive the ‘Legendary Threads Set’ and the ‘Reapers’ Game Survival Set’ upon release.
