Cat-Girl Visual Novel ‘Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille’ Gets May Release Date on PC; Yea, This May or May Not Be the One With the Sister Route (It Is) Trailer Streaming Now

Publisher Sekai Project has announced that Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille, the standalone follow-up to Nekopara Vol. 4, will officially launch on PC via Steam on May 22, 2025. Developed by Neko Works, this release has been long awaited by fans, and I wonder why.

Originally planned as downloadable content, La Vraie Famille has grown into a full standalone title following its initial announcement at Anime Expo 2022. It serves as a continuation of the main storyline while marking the 10th anniversary of the series.

A New Catgirl, a Familiar Conflict

The narrative picks up after Beignet, having acknowledged Kashou Minaduki’s talent as a patissier, decides to close the French branch of La Soleil and entrusts Fraise, a catgirl she raised, to his care. Fraise harbors romantic feelings for Kashou, but quickly finds herself overwhelmed by the six other catgirls already living under his roof.

Seeking guidance, Fraise turns to Kashou’s sister, Shigure. However, Shigure has been quietly carrying a flame for her brother as well. What unfolds is a lighthearted yet emotionally complex rivalry, where both girls try to prioritize the other’s happiness while wrestling with their own unspoken desires.

    Familiar Faces, Enhanced Presentation

Nekopara After: La Vraie Famille keeps the charm fans expect: Sayori returns as lead artist and original concept creator, while the story is penned by Murasaki Yukiya. Character sprites are animated, and the entire cast features full Japanese voice acting (aside from protagonist Kashou), with language support in English, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

The opening theme, Contrail, is performed by Ceui and composed by Motokiyo, and a new trailer was released featuring the game’s vibrant visuals and character dynamics. The trailer offers a first look at the emotional tone and playful back-and-forth fans will likely recognize from previous entries.
