Playstack announced that Cold Symmetry-developed action RPG, Mortal Shell, won’t be subjected to a digital-only future. The publisher revealed the game will receive a physical release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2. For those counting that’s almost two months after the digital August 18 release.
“The response to Mortal Shell has been energizing and unrelenting,” said Harvey Elliott, CEO of the game’s publisher, Playstack. “Ever since we revealed the project, fans have been continually telling us across Discord, email, and social media that they desperately want a physical edition. We are delighted to be answering the community’s call, and we are working on some exclusive extras that will make the boxed version even more special.”
Elliot adds, “As manufacturing and distributing a physical edition adds to the production schedule, the physical version will release on Friday, October 2 across Europe and North America, which is nearly two months after the digital release. We are confident the wait for this collector’s item will be worth it.”
The physical release will launch on for $29.99 and will contain a softback artbook, which features concept images and character art. It should also be noted that the physical PC edition does not contain a disc, instead, there is just a code inside that can be redeemed at the Epic Games Store.
Mortal Shell is a deep action-RPG that aims to put the player’s skills and sanity to the test as they face off against numerous enemies. The game’s combat requires strategic planning and is developed to be unforgiving to mistakes. During gameplay, players will be able to pose lost warriors that they’ll be able to inhabit known as Mortal Shells. This not only offers a new way to approach battles, but it also opens up additional combat skills.
