Mortal Kombat 11 Sells Over 12 Million Units Worldwide; Franchise Surpasses 73 Million Sold Console Units

Publisher Warner Bros. Games has announced that the NetherRealm Studios developed Mortal Kombat 11 has sold over 12 million units worldwide. Additionally, counting sold products ever since the franchise’s initial outing in 1992, the entire series has sold a cumulative total of over 73 million units across consoles. Furthermore, the mobile title, Mortal Kombat Mobile, has reached over 138 million installs, marking yet another acclaimed height for this storied and precious franchise.

Adding to this success, it is worth acknowledging the several films, theatrical series, and animated movies that have defined Mortal Kombat as an undeniable icon of gaming culture.

Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios and Co-Creator of Mortal Kombat, had this to say regarding the news of the recent sales:

When Mortal Kombat launched nearly 30 years ago, I never dreamed it would grow into the franchise it is today with more than 73 million games sold. We have some of the most passionate fans in the world, and we appreciate the support they have shown us over the years.”

NetherRealm Studios recently announced that they had stepped away from Mortal Kombat 11 to work on their next, unannounced title.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and PC.
