Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX Coming West for Switch, PC And Mobile In December

Koei Tecmo has announced Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX for PC -via Steam-, Switch, Android and iOS. Though the games had been released in Japan individually before, this collection with both monster-raising sims will be available worldwide on December 9, 2021.

Monster Rancher was originally released in 1997 for the very first PlayStation console. Its sequel, Monster Rancher 2, was also released for the same system in 1999. The two games allow players to raise and train a variety of monsters, with various types and skills available. Depending on the training, players are able to make creatures that fit different play styles.

One special aspect of the original games was using CDs to create a monster. Depending on which one you picked, the game would give birth to different creatures. Finding out which one would give rarer, stronger ones was part of the fun back in the day. The new version should have a database of CDs instead to simulate this experience.

The collection will also feature more content compared to the individual Japanese releases Switch and mobile had. These include additional save slots, Freeze slots, and Monster Hall of Fame slots. A memo feature, as well as rankings for random battles, should be helpful to analyze your performance over time. The collection will also have a high-speed mode so players can play both games faster.
