NIS America released a free demo of their upcoming dungeon-crawling RPG Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on May 23, 2023.
The demo allows players to play the opening of the game and explore dungeons, gather materials, and fight monsters through the SRPG battle system. Further, players will get a preview of cooking meals that boost their stats to go even further into the dungeons.
The publisher confirmed that Save Data from the game can be transferred to the full release. You can download the demo now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
This dungeon-crawling strategy JRPG fittingly has cooking mechanics for the cast to get a leg up on foes. Players will have to make their 4-person party via character creation, gather items and ingredients during exploration, and tactically battle monsters. Survival and roguelike elements are also included in this experience. Further, English audio will be implemented.
In gameplay, players can gather materials and ingredients to cook, restoring calories and water. Stats and skills can also be learned via cooking. Additionally, poorly cooked dishes can be utilized as weapons against foes. Combat is turn-based, with the order depending on the units’ speed. Team-up attacks can occur if certain teammates are in the vicinity of each other as well.
