Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Expansion Gets Release Date and Details

Capcom announced that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, an expansion for Monster Hunter World, will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6 with the PC release scheduled for this winter.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne brings the Monster Hunter World to a new icy setting, along with adding new gameplay options and monsters. The expansion allows players to play through a brand new story taking place in the region of Hoarfrost Reach. This will be the largest region in the game so far and will include more quests than what is offered in the base game.

Additionally, players will be able to turn up the difficulty with a new Master Rank option, which adds a new quest tier that makes monsters tougher. Monsters introduced in this expansion include the horned brute wyvern Banbaro as well as Beotodus who interweave with returning monsters including Nargacuga. However, players will also meet Velkhana, an elder dragon with powerful ice attacks that the player will know quite well while playing through the story.

Players can now experience a new update for the Slinger which can now be used while the main weapon is drawn. Additional features for the Slinger include the CLutch Claw which is used to grapple onto monsters with more direct control and the Flinch Shot which unloads Slinger ammo in order to stun monster. New combos will be added to all 14 weapon types.

From now until May 20, players can play Monster Hunter World for free on PlayStation 4. This will give them a preview of the game’s features and systems ahead of the expansion launches.
