Monster Hunter Rise Reveals “Switch Skills” Allowing Players to Create New Combos for Further Customization

Capcom revealed new combat information for Monster Hunter Rise, coming to Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.

New gameplay features were revealed for combat alongside the “Silkbind Attack” that is already available to all 14 weapon types. Through gameplay, players can also unlock the new “Switch Skills” for each weapon. By Switching between Silkbind, Switch, and regular attacks, players can create new combos and strategies to match their play style.

Additionally, we learned about the difficulty scaling for multiplayer, which automatically adjusts as new players enter and leave the hunt. The “Hunter Connect” system gives players the option to create tags with objectives and playstyles for better search optimization. After completing a multiplayer quest, players can ‘like’ the other characters in the party, which will make them more likely to match make with them again.

Lastly, Zinogre and Nargacuga were highlighted in a trailer. Viewers could also catch a glimpse of a new threat looming over Kamura, alongside the Elder Dragon Chameleos, which will be one of the multiple monsters arriving in post-launch updates following the game’s release later this month.

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry of the action-RPG series, where players are tasked with taking on some of the most powerful monsters around. The game is set in the Kamura Village, home to many warriors who have developed unique and innovative hunting technologies. One of which is a special insect called a Wirebug. This allows players to grapple themselves in any direction, making it possible to scale cliffs and structures.
