Monark Reveals Japan Launch Day Artwork Depicting Expressive Cast

The official Japan Twitter account for the turn-based FURYU Corporation developed JRPG Monark has released celebratory artwork commemorating the title’s Japanese release. This visual consists of the main cast depicted in varying expressive poses. The game is releasing in the West by publisher NIS America in early 2022.

Monark takes place in Shin Mikado Academy, a school that’s currently suffering the effects of a Mist that makes people go mad. Unfortunately, the institution is also separated from the rest of the world by a barrier, meaning the only way out for the protagonist and his newfound friends is to fight.

The protagonist makes a pact with a Daemonic power and obtains the Authority of Vanity. With it, he’ll be able to strengthen his Ego and fight against the abominations that reside in the academy. Alongside him, there are four companions, and your choices to side more with one of them will lead to different destinies.

It’s up to the player to make allies called fiends, unlocked according to how the player’s Ego evolves through the game. The player can also use incredible powers in battle with the protagonist’s Authority, but mishandling it will cause the MAD gauge to fill. Being overtaken by madness means attacking both allies and enemies as well as self-destructing, making it essential for the player to analyze the risks properly.

Monark is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on February 22, 2022.
