Final Fantasy Creator’s Newest Game ‘Fantasian’ Makes Me Want to Get an Apple Arcade Subscription
Mistwalker launched the story trailer for their newest RPG Fantasian, in development for Apple Arcade for a 2021 release.
Fantasian is set in a world governed by machines where the balance of Chaos and Order is the key factor in the struggle within this multi-dimensional universe. Players will take on the role of Leo, who has awakened after an explosion without his memory and facing a strange land. The journey begins to reclaim Leo’s memories as players uncover the truth behind a strange mechanical infection that is consuming mankind.
The story is written by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi with music by Nobuo Uematsu.
The battle system uses a “Dimengeon Battle” mechanic, which allows players to send previously encountered enemies into a separate dimensional dungeon to streamline combat and maximize uninterrupted exploration of the beautiful locations.
Players will explore dioramas with over 150 different types. Creating Fantasian’s real-life miniature sets are veterans who have worked on projects like the Godzilla films, Attack on Titan, and Ultraman. Fantasian serves as a vehicle to bring these works of art into the digital space via Apple Arcade.
One thing is for sure, Fantasian makes me want to subscribe to Apple Arcade, which I haven’t cared about until now. The service is Apple’s attempt at getting players locked into a monthly subscription where they can play several exclusive titles. However, many of those titles are now making their way to PC and consoles.
