Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel have announced that their tactical cat roguelite, Mewgenics, will get physical editions on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 via Nicalis.
These editions will cost $39.99 digitally, while the physical releases will be $49.99 ahead of their eventual Q1 2027 releases. Also, based on the listing, it appears that the Switch 2 release will be entirely on cart. The digital console versions will be released on September 8, 2026.
Set in the world of Boon County, Mewgenics has players assembling teams of cats and equipping them with class-specific collars, such as Fighters, Tanks, and Mages, before sending them out on expeditions. Battles emphasize positioning, environmental interactions, and synergies among abilities.
There are over 1,000 unique abilities, hundreds of items, and several types of enemies and bosses. Then, between expeditions, the mechanics of breeding come into play. Cats that survive return home with experience, injuries, and sometimes bizarre mutations, which can then be passed down to future generations. Players can fine-tune bloodlines and manage genetic quirks.
Mewgenics is available on PC via Steam.
