Developer Dracma Studios has revealed new information about their 2.5D metroidvania title, Candle Knight. Having begun its development in 2019 with a planned launch on PC via Steam on May 31, 2023, players will find themselves exploring an intricate castle.
The titular protagonist is “driven by the power of a powerful flame,” with the candle atop their helmet acting as a guide amidst the darkness. Gameplay comprises action combat, puzzle-solving, and platforming, with an explicitly stated inspiration from classic metroidvanias. Further, the dynamic difficulty system, known as Ignis, will serve to make every player’s experience unique as their challenge level is continually adapted to their skill level.
Dracma Studios co-founder Mario Vallarta stated the following regarding the release date announcement:
“We’re very excited to finally release Candle Knight to the public in the coming months, it’s been a collective work of love and we hope people can see that!”
