Metroid Fusion Joining Switch Online Next Week; Release Date Trailer

Nintendo has announced that their Game Boy Advance metroidvania, Metroid Fusion, will join the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on March 9, 2023. For those unaware, this is one of the most beloved games in not only the Metroid series but also the Game Boy Advance library as a whole. Further, this is the game that Metroid Dread took notes from and is a sequel of.

Throughout this game, protagonist Samus Aran is attacked by the X Parasite, which can mimic the abilities of those it infects. However, the DNA of its natural predator, a Metroid, saves Samus’ life via a vaccine. To support the planet of SR388, Samus is sent to exterminate the X Parasite, which is obviously quite troublesome.

Several staples and new tools are available, including the Morph Ball, Screw Attack, Wave Beam, and Diffusion Missiles, making this entry simultaneously hearken to its roots while treading new ground.
