Metal Wolf Chaos XD Was Created By FromSoftware to Get Mechs in the Hands of Western Gamers

Devolver Digital released a new video for the FromSoftware developed arcade action game Metal Wolf Chaos XD, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 6.

The video is a retrospective of Metal Wolf Chaos XD that gives a brief history of developer FromSoftware, showing where they are today and where they came from. The video touches on the Armored Core series and how it wasn’t really known if western gamers enjoyed mech titles. So in order to deliver something that western fans could find enjoy, the developer created Metal Wolf Chaos XD. However, the game was only ever released in Japan, even though it had English voice over.

Metal Wolf Chaos originally released in 2004 on the original Xbox in Japan and the rest is history. The game features over the top cinematic moments of chaos and explosions and features some of the best-voiced dialogue in any video game. Developer General Arcade has picked up the task of modernizing the game with refined control and gameplay, and new save system, and 4K + 16:9 resolution support.
