Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Version 1.4.0 Adds Screen Settings Options; Available Now on PC, Console Release Set for January

Konami has shared patch notes for a new update available on the PC version of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, bringing the game to version 1.4.0. The publisher has confirmed that a console release of this patch will be released in January 2024.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 version 1.4.0 update brings significant enhancements across all platforms. This update introduces new screen setting features, including a Smoothing option that allows players to toggle between a smooth or sharp picture and game screen settings with options like “Standard,” “Pixel Perfect,” “16:9,” and “Fullscreen” (exclusive to Steam). These settings provide players with greater control over their visual experience, adapting to various screen aspect ratios and setups. Additionally, the update adds a screen filter feature, which simulates CRT TV scanlines when activated, and an audio settings feature for adjusting game and menu volumes.

Each game in the Master Collection, including Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, receives its own set of improvements. These enhancements range from new audio settings to a “Window Mode” feature for Steam versions, allowing players to switch to windowed play using keyboard shortcuts. The update also prioritizes user-set button designs on Steam and addresses minor issues, improving the overall gaming experience. The Master Collection Vol.1 Bonus Content mirrors these improvements, adding similar screen settings and audio options and ensuring a consistent experience across the collection.

The development team acknowledges ongoing issues under investigation, such as cutscene interruptions and problems with analog input in the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection and audio retention issues in recorded gameplay videos on Xbox Series X|S. They are also addressing keyboard input issues on Steam for multiple games in the collection. Regular updates and further details on these fixes will be provided as they become available, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the gaming experience for the Metal Gear Solid community.
