Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 Coming to PS5 in Fall 2023

During the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Konami announced that classic Metal Gear Solid games will be making their way to PlayStation 5.

The information that we have now is that this will be titled Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 and will include Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater.

The team confirmed the release will include:

• Metal Gear Solid
• Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version)
• Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version)

UPDATE: The developer shared:

we will deliver the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection allow fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.

Each game will be available via PlayStation 5. We’re assuming this will be a digital release of the original games. Likely, this release will feature upscaled graphics with some new options available for accessibility. Still, the collection has been available on PlayStation 3 since the release of Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection in 2013. However, this collection contained the entire Metal Gear series.

Further, Volume 1 likely means we’ll see more classic Metal Gear games come to modern platforms. What’s missing is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots alongside other PSP titles, but we’ll have to wait and see what comes from this first grouping of titles.
