Mega Man Franchise Sells 40 Million Units Worldwide; Battle Network Legacy Collection Sells 1.32 Million, Fifth-Best Selling Entry

Capcom has released their Consolidated financial results for the 1st Quarter of FY2023, revealing new sales info for their various IPs.

In particular, page four of the document announced that Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection has sold over 1.32 million units worldwide across PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch as of June 30, 2023. This makes the title the fifth-best-selling entry in the entire franchise. The collection was confirmed to have sold one million units around its April launch.

Further, this puts the Mega Man franchise at 40 million units sold, as stated on page fourteen of the Capcom 1st Quarter Report Fiscal year ending March 31, 2024. This news is honestly pretty wild since there’s a fair chance that Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection could go on to become the highest-selling collective entry in the series if given a few more years. The future of the blue bomber is looking brighter than ever.

The Mega Man Battle Network series follows protagonist Lan Hikari and his Net Navi MegaMan.EXE as they and their friends battle foes threatening the safety of the Cyber Net, such as prominent viruses and the criminal syndicate WWW (World Three). Combat is action-strategy requiring players to move in real-time across a grid to avoid enemy attacks while attacking and equipping skills on-the-fly. MegaMan.EXE can also be upgraded and customized to better situate himself for various scenarios.
