Lorenzo Redaelli’s psychedelic-psychological-thriller visual novel Mediterranea Inferno has announced a launch and release date for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X and S versions of the game.
The PC version was released on Steam in August of this year and revolves around three friends in Italy who had been inseparable before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and have not seen each other since, reuniting for a weekend in a small beach-side village. The story quickly proves itself to be less than straightforward as the main characters are thrust into a series of sacrilegious hallucinations, twisting and turning the plot into a tale of depression, betrayal, and even narcissism over the span of about five hours.
In our review, we called it “one of the most poignant stories [we’ve] ever experienced in the medium” and awarded it a 9/10, with it also appearing in my own top five games of 2023 list, where I said that it “gripped me with its visuals and refused to let go for even a second.”
The game will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X and S on April 5, 2024, with preorders to open soon. You can check out the announcement trailer below:
