Piranha Games announced during Mech_Con 2018 that they plan to release MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries on PC on September 10, 2019.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries puts players in the seat of a mech pilot and allows them to build, manage, and guide their mech through a multi-year campaign during the Third and Fourth Succession Wars. Players will be able to tackle these missions alone, online with up to three friends, or with an AI companion. There will be a variety of situations that players will encounter through the campaign such as deciding where to be at any given time in the galaxy and how to manage their mech.
“Getting to meet with MechWarrior’s most diehard fans and see them react to the team’s hard work at Mech_Con has become an incredible tradition for us,” said Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. “The team has put so much work and passion into our mission to bring MechWarrior back into the spotlight, and seeing our excitement for what’s still to come for this classic series reverberate with the community in the room tonight was incredible.”
MechWarrior 4: Vengeance released on PC in 2000, the series is known for accurate mech creation and management. Piranha Games is based out of Canada and developed MechWarrior Online released in 2013, the game has a strong community of players and is still receiving support.
Additionally, the developer released a new trailer for the game, showing gameplay and mechs, no surprise there.

Author’s take: The MechWarrior series was pretty cool growing up with, although I never had a PC powerful enough to play it. I’m glad the developer gave such a far our release date to give them time developing the game and not overextend their resources. I’m excited to see this game come to life because I now think I have a PC powerful enough to play, I hope.
