Piranha Games released the opening cinematic for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, coming to PC-exclusively via Epic Games Store on December 10.
The trailer is the intro that players will see when they boot up the game, which gives players a good idea about the state of the galaxy in 3015. The game follows the tension between the great houses of humanity after entering the Succession Wars. Players assume the role of a pilot who has been thrown into a leadership position and must now guide a unit through this conflict. This includes choosing which house to help, accept contracts, and managing resources.
From the missions select screen, players will travel around the galaxy where they will land on foreign planets and face off against enemy mechs. The campaign gives players a choice about how they wish to take on these missions, which revolves around risk, reward, and consequence.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries borrows the gameplay from MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries, which grants players the freedom to run their campaigns on how they choose. Players will be able to pilot, construct, and maintain their own mercenary unit over a multi-year campaign during the Third and Fourth Succession Wars. The game also has an online mode where players can bring up to three friends with them in co-op contracts. These missions can also be played with AI-controlled allies.
