Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Has a Skill Tree
The latest weekly Famitsu issue contained new gameplay information about the upcoming mystery adventure Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, revealing that there will be a skill tree.
Our team’s Ryuji has translated this news, viewable below:
Maze Skills
Skills with effects that are useful for conquering the mysterious labyrinths. They can be learned with the skill points earned by increasing your Detective Rank. Skills are classified into three categories and can be individually equipped.
Skill Categories include:
- Solution Skills: Many of them can reduce the difficulty of an action segment
- Solving Skills: Skills that make it easier to find the answer to a given puzzle and can ease the difficulty of solving riddles.
- Physical Skills: Increases the upper limit of Yuma’s physical strength, making it more difficult for the player to get a Game Over.
These skills can be unlocked through the tree of the image on the right. You can unlock whichever skill you think best suits your investigation and check what they do by hovering over them.
A screenshot of the skill tree is viewable below, though it is cropped and has a lower quality as a result. Still, Spike Chunsoft will certainly detail this gameplay facet and other accompanying ones in the near future, and we’ll then update our coverage to reflect that.
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code has players control an amnesiac detective who is followed by a Shinigami and solve cases by examining crime scenes and evidence. The Shinigami will create a realm connecting the crime scene to the truth. Mystery Phantoms will try to impede your progress, and defeating them by utilizing the truth is the only way to go.
The gameplay comprises exploration throughout the Kanai Ward, which is entirely 3D. Players will have to examine several crime scenes and other locations alongside interviewing involved parties. Hidden clues are emphasized as being hidden via specific camera angles.
