Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Reveals Setting & Gameplay Details; Renders, Screenshots & More
Spike Chunsoft has shared new details regarding their upcoming mystery adventure, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code.
The title takes place in the Kanai Ward, where it constantly rains and is home to a certain megacorporation. The city is also divided into several distinct areas. Unfortunately, despite considerable growth, the megacorporation has been controlling the city, causing it to suffer from severe isolation and unresolved mysteries.
The World Detective Organization is also introduced, with the Master Detectives being particularly highlighted. They are experts in criminal investigation and boast an ability called Forensic Forte that aids in their tasks. The protagonist, Yuma, finds himself cooperating with these adept individuals.
The gameplay comprises exploration throughout the Kanai Ward, which is entirely 3D. Players will have to examine several crime scenes and other locations alongside interviewing involved parties. Hidden clues are emphasized as being hidden via specific camera angles.
The Mystery Labyrinth is a locale all players will rapidly become familiar with. It is a realm that houses mysteries of the real world, veiled by puzzles. The megacorporation controlling the real city can’t interfere with this place either. Further, the appearance of this area alters the more one progresses.
One of the most significant occurrences in these labyrinths is Reasoning Death Matches against Mystery Phantoms. These beings embody the will of the person hiding truths about the case Yuma is investigating as they attempt to argue against your deductions. Thankfully, evidence wielded by the Solution Blade will strike down their lies. It is also worth noting that while these Phantoms will be depicted as characters from the game, that does not necessarily equate to that person as the culprit. After all, there are those who will try to protect truths even if they are not the ones responsible.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is a new project by the Danganronpa team where one experiences a 3D detective adventure set in a neon city. The title is currently scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023.
Players will control an amnesiac detective who is followed by a Shinigami and solve cases by examining crime scenes and evidence. The Shinigami will create a realm connecting the crime scene to the truth. Mystery Phantoms will try to impede your progress, and defeating them by utilizing the truth is the only way to go.
