Dungeon-Crawling RPG ‘Mary Skelter 2’ Gets Open Movie and Nightmare Jake Details

Idea Factory International released the opening movie and details for their dungeon-crawling RPG Mary Skelter 2, coming digitally on Nintendo Switch on October 22 in North America and October 23 in Europe.

The opening movies show the character illustrations as it sets up the game’s story, which is probably nothing fans haven’t seen before, but the music is good. The publisher has also shared details on the game’s battle system.

In battle, when playing as Otsuu and Nightmare Jack, players can input two actions and switch off between the two characters. For example, Otsuu can attack during one turn, while Nightmare Jack can Purge Abilities. The combination is up to the player. However, if Nightmare Jack is overused, his Mind Meter Gauge will hit its limit and he will turn into Ripper Jack. This version of Jack become uncontrollable and attack everything. The only way to turn him back is to use “counseling”, which will help ease his mind back to normal.

The game previously released on PlayStation 4 in Japan as a sequel to 2017’s Mary Skelter on PlayStation Vita. Mary Skelter 2 continues the adventure of the series as Jack as he deals with becoming a nightmare which opens the door for a new battle system. During gameplay, players will need to satisfy the living jail’s needs by completing the three desires in the jail, which will provide Jack with various bonuses. During battles, Jack will be able to succumb to the nightmare and turn into Ripper Jack where he can deal devastating amounts of damage. The game also features items known as Blood Crystals which can be harvested to turn into new items.
