Dungeon-Crawling RPG ‘Mary Skelter 2’ Gets Dungeon and Purging Maidens Details
Idea Factory International released new details for their dungeon-crawling RPG Mary Skelter 2, coming digitally on Nintendo Switch on October 22 in North America and October 23 in Europe. A physical version will be released from Limited Run Games.
This week, the publisher details the game’s dungeons, which are called “Jails” in the game. Each dungeon has a gimmick that might hurt the party or slow you down. Players will need to be alert and as they travel through each area to avoid them at all costs, especially when a Nightmare is close. To help with this, each Maiden has a unique skill known as a “Blood Ability” That can assist with solving some of the puzzles. Such as Cinderella’s “Twelve Dash,” which lets you move quickly for 12 seconds, but will stun you if you run into a wall.
While exploring the dungeons, battles will slowly corrupt the Maidens. This will mean that players will need to purge them before they enter Blood Skelter mode where they will attack anything, including their friends. By visiting the Rescue Center in the Liberated District, players will be able to remove that awful Curroption by touching where it is on the Maiden’s body. Hopefully, the purge is successful because you get a bonus if you complete it.
Special features about this release are the inclusion of Mary Skelter: Nightmares, a game that was previously only available on PlayStation Vita. The game will become available to any who purchases Mary Skelter 2. However, this version of the game will include revamped systems and balancing adjustments.
The game was previously released on PlayStation 4 in Japan as a sequel to 2017’s Mary Skelter on PlayStation Vita. Mary Skelter 2 continues the adventure of the series as Jack as he deals with becoming a nightmare, which opens the door for a new battle system. During gameplay, players will need to satisfy the living jail’s needs by completing the three desires in the jail, which will provide Jack with various bonuses. During battles, Jack will be able to succumb to the nightmare and turn into Ripper Jack where he can deal devastating amounts of damage. The game also features items known as Blood Crystals, which can be harvested to turn into new objects.
