Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Prequel Comic Releasing This Week; Marvel’s Spider-Man Standalone PS5 Release Launching This Month
Developer Insomniac Games and Sony have announced that an official Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 prequel comic will release on May 6, 2023, as part of Free Comic Book Day. This story will occur after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, focusing on the lives of Peter Parker, Miles, and Mary Jane as they balance the multiple faces of their lives. Additionally, the well-known villain The Hood has been confirmed to debut in this specific universe throughout this comic.
One of the writers of the first game, Christos Gage, and artist Ig Guara worked on this comic narrative as well, and fans will be able to download it via the official Marvel website, the Marvel Unlimited app, or obtain it from participating comic book stores on May 6, 2023. Further, worldwide digital availability will be possible from the Marvel Unlimited app at an unspecified later date.
Lastly, both companies also announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will receive its own standalone purchase on PlayStation 5 for $49.99. For those unaware, this particular release was previously only available from buying Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition. If you owned Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 4, either digitally or physically, you’ll be able to upgrade to this native PlayStation 5 version for $10. Unfortunately, a date for this launch was not provided other than it being sometime later this month.
UPDATE: Marvel’s Spider-Man is now available for purchase on PlayStation 5.
However, it should be noted that if you obtained Marvel’s Spider-Man from PlayStation Plus, you will not be eligible for a PlayStation 5 upgrade.
