Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Playtime in the Same Ball-Park as the First Game, Reveals Insomniac
Ahead of the launch of the highly anticipated Insomniac Games-developed superhero action-adventure Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, outlet VG247 interviewed senior game director Ryan Smith about various facets of the experience.
Various subject matter is discussed, ranging from the appeal of swapping between two superheroes on the fly to the benefits the PlayStation 5 hardware made possible. However, the interview also revealed the playtime players should expect from this outing.
Smith announced that the playtime of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is roughly the same as the first game’s, meaning that if someone solely bee-lines the story, they should expect to spend around 20 or so hours. On the other hand, completionists may spend 30-40 hours. But it’s worth emphasizing that these estimations are solely based on aggregated playtimes of the first game.
You can view Smith’s full comment on the matter below:
“Spider-Man 2 is in the same ball-park as the first game in terms of overall play time. And we really thought about how to make each of the moments – moments like The Lizard fight you played – a little more epic, or a little deeper, or a little more story-integrated. We don’t want this to be an 80-100 hour game, that’s not where we want to be. We want to tell amazing stories, the best we can. We want to make every mission really, really memorable. That’s our goal, rather than going super, super broad.”

Marvel’s Spider–Man 2 will focus on Peter Parker and Miles Morales following the events of the latter’s latest title. Players can anticipate more acrobatic parkour with web swinging alongside several variations built upon that foundation. Further, Venom will play an integral role in this entry’s narrative, so fans have quite a bit to look forward to this time around.
For those unaware, a Marvel’s Spider–Man 2 prequel comic was recently launched for Free Comic Book Day. It highlights Peter Parker, Miles, and Mary Jane as they balance the multiple faces of their lives. Additionally, the well-known villain The Hood debuts in this specific universe.
