Marvel’s Avengers Confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X With Free Upgrade from Current Gen Version

Square Enix announced that Crystal Dynamics-developed action-adventure Marvel’s Avengers will launch in holiday 2020 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Those who purchase the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the newer version at no additional cost. This also includes save files from the current generation version. Additionally, the publisher revealed that cross-gen play is enabled allowing PS5 and PS4 players to play together and Xbox Series X and Xbox One players to play together.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X version will support faster load time and boosted resolutions. The game will also have improved textures along with defined armor destruction, and ray tracing. The publisher focuses heavily on the PS5 version stating that “The PlayStation 5 experience will be seamless and dynamic, fully utilizing the ultra-high-speed SSD, the PS5 DualSense advanced haptics, and immersive spatial audio. To fully customize their visual experience, PS5 will also provide players with their choice of Enhanced Graphics Mode or High Framerate mode.”

More details about the Xbox Series X and PC version will be revealed at a later date.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor just so happen to be unveiling an Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco as well as their own helicarrier powered energy source. However, the celebration doesn’t last long when an accident strikes and the Avengers Disband. Five years later, in a time where Super Heroes are outlawed, Earth must call upon these heroes to help them against approaching evil.

Marvel’s Avengers will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4.
