Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gets Free Breath of the Wild Update
In a surprise end of day announcement, Nintendo rolled out new DLC for Mario Kart 8: Deluxe in the form of Breath of Wild content, adding a kart and outfit for game owners.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Breath of Wild kart features a stylistic motorcycle that shows designs that can be found throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The new outfit displays Link in his Zelda: Breath of the Wild blue threads that have definitely grown on me over the past year.
This is the first major content adding patch for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which originally launched on Nintendo Switch in April 2017. The game was released with all of the DLC packs from the game’s Wii U version. By picking up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, players were able to play Mario Kart 8 with added characters and new modes.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Breath of Wild update is available now as version 1.6.0.

Author’s take: I own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so I’m probably part of the problem of supporting enhanced ports of older titles, but to be fair I never purchased the Wii U version. Regardless, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a great game that was just made better with a free update to bring players back to the game for a few more rounds around the track.
