Shiravune has announced they will be responsible for the English release of Makura’s Sakura no Uta. The visual novel conceived by SCA-DI (Subarashiki Hibi) will be titled Sakura no Uta -To Dance Over the Cherry Blossoms- in the West.
Originally released in Japan in 2015, Sakura no Uta is one of SCA-DI’s most popular works in Japan. Though it was originally planned before Subarashiki Hibi, it would take much longer to go out, being thoroughly revised in the process.
In the game, Naoya Kusanagi has recently lost his father. Now, he moves in with his best friend, Kei, and Kei’s family, getting closer to homeroom teacher Ai and Kei’s younger sister Shizuku Natsume.
With the coming of a new semester, his childhood friend, Rin Misakura, reappears and Naoya will have a fateful encounter along with the sakura petals. With everything going on, the story promises to be about “those whose paths stop short—and of those who walk on.”
The English release will be based on the most recent Japanese release, also known as “Sakura no Uta Re:Graphic -Sakura no Mori no Ue o Mau-“. This version includes recolored full HD art and full voice acting (except for the protagonist) as well as additional background music and different opening/ending videos from the original release.
Keep in mind that Makura had already mentioned that the “Sakura no” series, which includes both Sakura no Uta and its follow-up Sakura no Toki, would come West back in 2025. Along with Shiravune’s reveal, however, we now get a look at the English release with a few screenshots:
According to the publisher, the game will be available soon on PC, though a release window was not provided. Store pages for it are now available for wishlisting on Steam, and JAST Store.
