Dischan Media announced that they will be removing their hack-and-slash action title, Mahou Arms, from Steam Early Access after a discrepancy over assets has come to their attention. The company will also freeze the Patreon for the foreseeable future as they sort out the issue. The developer made it clear that this is only temporary, and they plan for everything to be resolved with a month or two.
It’s good to mention that this information has been provided by the developer and the composer in question is not represented in these claims. We also have not seen the contract mentioned by Dischan, which is more than likely classified.
Legal action has been threatened against the developer after a contracted composer claimed they had not been adequately compensated. The composer was contracted for 30 hours a month and worked with the team for three months until Dischan decided to part ways with the composer. However, it seems they were bill for 7 hours extra, which wasn’t in their contract. Instead, Dischan paid them for 105 hours of time and did their best to remove their music and sound effects from the entire project.
However, the composer is now seeking reimbursement for the 7 hours, plus a severance after they were removed from the project. Both of which were supposedly not in the contract.
As of this time, the developer has no intention of giving in to their demands and will instead make sure that anything they’ve contributed to the project has been removed.
Mahou Arms is a hack-and-slash action game set in a world where the human race in on the brink of annihilation at the hand of an alien force known as the Locks. A special force known as GARDA has been assembled to defeat this threat.
