Mahjong Soul has launched its 2026 summer update, and for the second year in a row, bathing suits have somehow gotten me to cover a mahjong game. The update adds new character Chi Lin, the limited-time Beachside Cabana event, animated summer outfits, and additional match decorations. It runs through September 8 at 1:59 PM. Mahjong Soul is available now as a free-to-play game on PC via Steam and iOS and Android devices.
Last year’s summer update pulled the same trick with Liyang and another round of swimsuit outfits, so at this point, this may just be how Mahjong Soul gets coverage from me every August.
Chi Lin joins the roster as the Lady of the Horse Palace. Raising her bond level unlocks themed Riichi and Winning effects, a portrait frame, and an animated bond outfit at max bond.
The Beachside Cabana event is also live during the update period. Completing event missions can earn Summon Scrolls, the Tile Call Indicator – Forest’s Blessing, and the limited Fortune Paws title. A summer login reward also includes a free Summon Scroll.

The new Sun, Salt & Summer outfit series includes looks for Yuan Xiao, Leia, Ryan, and Anju Suzumiya, with animated outfits for Yuan Xiao, Leia, and Ryan. Chi Lin also gets the animated Sunward Courser outfit. The Summer Night Breeze series is returning as well.
Players can also pull for new limited decorations, including a Tablecloth, Tile Back, Riichi Bet stick, and additional Riichi and Winning effects.
A new promotional video released alongside the update shows Chi Lin and the summer content in action.
