“Lucid Soul is inspired by some of the most important games of its genre, such as Lunar: Silver Star, Eternal Blue, Final Fantasy, and Chrono Trigger,” says solo-dev Jon Bookout.
The developer is seeking $50,000 in funding to bring the game to release. Currently, it’s reached over half of the goal. If you’re looking to get a copy of the game, there’s a $20 tier available with an expected release planned for October 2022. Much of the game’s funding is being put towards music and pixel art to make the game a better experience, but it seems the developer is using Kickstarter to get the word out about his game just as much as he’s looking for funding.
Lucid Soul puts players in the role of a villain as they unfold the narrative of this mature-rated fantasy RPG. Gameplay features top-down exploration and turn-based combat along with over 30 hours of gameplay. The team also has commissions music by Nate Combs features Hayley Nelson for the soundtrack.
