Otome Visual Novel ‘Lover Pretend’ Gets English Opening Video With Translated Text

Aksys Games has revealed an English trailer for Lover Pretend. The video is a preview of the otome visual novel opening, revealing the text elements are all translated to English instead of being kept as is from the Japanese opening. The song is also called Lover Pretend, and it’s composed by Toshinori Orikura, written by mao and performed by singer Mitsuki Nakae.

Lover Pretend tells the story of a college student called Chiyuki who dreams of becoming a scriptwriter like her mother, who sadly passed away. Because she has no romance experience, she has a hard time coming up with romance stories, which seems to be one of her weak points as a writer.

She’s also looking for some clues on her father’s identity, as she has never met him and now she isn’t able to ask her mother about him anymore. However, she finds out her father may have been involved in the performance of an old drama her mother wrote. Weirdly enough, the sons of the former staff are currently making a movie. This is the perfect opportunity for her to find out the truth as an assistant.

Chiyuki lands the job, but the staff decides to have her as the love interest in the movie. This is but the start of some chaotic rom-com romps while she tries to get closer to her two objectives. As an otome title, it’s likely that she’ll find true romance along the way.

Love interests in Lover Pretend include the good-natured best friend Kazuma Kamikubo (CV: Makoto Furukawa), the flirt Yukito Sena (CV: Tatsuhisa Suzuki), the reserved Harumi Makino (CV: Kengo Kawanishi), and the aloof Riku Nishijima (CV: Tomoaki Maeno). Another really important character highlighted in the video is Eiichirou Asagi (CV: Toshiyuki Morikawa), who acts as a college lecturer and is a popular scriptwriter.

Lover Pretend is coming to Nintendo Switch in English in December 2022, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
