The long-awaited English release of Love, Elections, and Chocolate has officially arrived. Publisher NekoNyan and developer Sprite have brought the award-winning romantic visual novel to PC via Steam, JAST, MangaGamer, or Denpasoft. The Steam version will require an external patch for the adult content.
Originally released in Japan in 2010, Love, Elections, and Chocolate—also known as KoiChoco—has developed something of a cult following over the years thanks to its emotionally grounded storytelling, vibrant character designs, and memorable soundtrack. The visual novel blends school life antics with political intrigue as friendships, romance, and student council agendas collide in unexpected ways.
Junk Food, Romance, and Political Warfare
At the heart of the story is Oojima Yuuki, a soft-spoken romantic just trying to coast through high school with his junk food-loving friends in the Culinary Research Club. The club is more of a social excuse than an academic pursuit, which becomes a problem when the upcoming student council election threatens to eliminate underperforming clubs.
The main threat? Shinonome Satsuki, a no-nonsense candidate with a strategic mind and a surprising weakness for sweets. Her campaign includes shutting down clubs she deems wasteful, and the Culinary Research Club lands right in her crosshairs.
Pushed to act, Yuuki and his friends decide to fight back—by entering the election themselves. What follows is a mix of lighthearted school comedy, surprisingly tense political scheming, and branching romance routes as players can grow closer to heroines like childhood friend and chocolate-hater Sumiyoshi Chisato, the enigmatic Mifuyu, or even their former rival Satsuki.
